Where are My Dividends??? (Expanded Version) posted Dec. 21, 2010
                                                by Richard DePersio
                                    Reminder: Three "Plato" articles follow.

"...pork-barrel legislation sails through Congress, lavishing money on small projects
that cannot possibly be described as promoting the national interest...Death by a
thousand subsidies. The cost of Dan Rostenkowski's underground parking garage
at the Museum of Science and Industry is insignificant in the face of our $14
trillion economy. So is the ethanol subsidy. So is the trade protection for sugar
producers, and the tax break for pharmaceutical companies with operations in
Puerto Rico, and the price supports for dairy farmers. But in total, these things--
and the tens of thousands like them-- are significant. Little inefficiencies begin to
disrupt the most basic function of a market economy: taking inputs and producing
good and services as efficiently as possible. If the government has to support the
price of milk, the real problem is that there are too many dairy farmers. The best
definition I've ever heard of a tax shelter is some kind of investment or behavior
that would not make sense in the absence of tax considerations. And that
is exactly the problem here: Governments should not be in the business of
providing incentives for people to do things that would not otherwise make sense."
-Charles Wheelan, W.W. Norton and Company, Inc., 2002, updated: 2010.
End virtually all types of subsidies, including, corporate welfare to big oil and gas.
Those who want a subsidy should go through an extremely difficult obstacle course
 to qualify.
End subsidies to wind and solar. Experts say that greenies won't start showing a
a small profit until 2020 (no doubt, subsidies will continue beyond that year).
Sometimes, Charles is liberalish, he didn't mention wind and solar. Experts also
tell that w/s can only generate about 25% of our electrical needs and no more -
and that it can't do it until about 2040. See: "ATBTC Action Chain Letter 4 (Updated
and Expanded" NASA might be able to guarantee 25% and add another 5% and do it
at much lower cost and more efficiently.
End subsidies to SpaceX and Virgin Galactic. Risk-investors usually get bank-
backing because of their track record. Let these types of investors take the big
risks and not taxpayers!!!

End all unconstitutional, socialist, costly subsidies: oil. gas. wind, solar, farm,
ethanol,  electric cars, utilities, etc., especially now when nation is
facing hyper-inflation or bankruptcy or both.Free market forces must
 prevail.  These handouts allegedly prevent
food and energy prices from going too low. Survival of the   Fittest. Those companies
 with flexible/adaptable business models will
prosper at times and    manage just to get by at other times. Those that
can't will perish. Too big to fail is a ridiculous economic concept. While
criminal president, unconstitutionally played bankruptcy judge in
order to sock it to preferred bond and shareholders and common
shareholders and spare unions                 of as much discomfort as he could.
Obama and  union unconstitutionally assumed the largest            share of ownership
and control. Fed gov can't own and manage a private company but is. Obama
nationalized/socialized auto and banking industries and is in the process of doing
the self-same thing with the health industry. No more financial bailouts!!!
Auto companies should have faced a real bankruptcy judge and reorganized under
Chapter Eleven if they could.     These are just some of Obama's impeachable
offenses. Let's not forget: He has taken the first steps toward partially or completely
controlling Internet.
Fed Grants were originally established due to Sputnik fear and were meant
for universities and colleges             for physics research and
developments in engineering. Later extended to social sciences and
educational studies. We can no longer afford the latter two; perhaps, we
can continue first two but reduced in light of debt crisis.
 And, grants to companies -unconstitutional.
Subsidies to SpaceX and Virgin Galactic:
Your tax dollars. You won't be surprised to know that it was Obama's idea! It isn't a
loan - you won't be paid back! You won't enjoy potential dividends either!
 Bond and stockholders will. Meanwhile,
NASA - budget 17.5 Billion (1/2 of 1% of fed budget)faces $1 billion-plus cut. We believe
that virtually all fed departments, agencies and programs must be cut due to dangerous
$15 trillion debt. NASA: Completely or partially responsible for over 30,000 discoveries
and inventions since its inception in 1958. Only gov program that gives you a
return on your investment - for every $1 budgeted NASA, you get $5 back within 7
years in the form of science and technology. Don't you think that a $500 million cut
is more reasonable - about a 2.5% cut? Some recent NASA activity:
NASA developing silicon-germanium electronics for satellites that is highly
resistant to temperature and radiation variations.
NASA and weather: Goes-P new generation satellite developed by NASA for
more precise measurements of moisture and temperature variations. Expect
clearer weather photos with your weather reports.
NASA in NANO. Nanosatellite size of a loaf of bread unfolds to over 100 square
feet with a thickness of 1/100th a human hair.
As always, what NASA does will eventually be applied to devices in your home,
car, office, farm, factory, hospital, etc.
We were one of the first to propose that NASA should  develop declassified version of
Air Force X-37B and use the $9 billion dollars worth of R & D from CONSTELLATION
Program (Orion, Ares 1 and 5, Altair) in new  heavy-lifter and manned -   beyond -
earth-orbit program. Update: Obama lost, he wanted to start from scratch and waste
the $9 billion.
We can't afford to wait for SpaceX (Falcon 9) to be capable of sending astros to and
from space station.
We will have to pay Russia, whom we beat in Moon Race, a hefty price for tickets
for them to fly us to our station,
we footed most of cost. Further, we lifted most of the 14 modules that comprise the
station. SpaceX won't be able to carry astros until 2014 or later. Meanwhile, China,
Japan and France will soon be able to carry astros to our station. What will China
(our banker) charge us. It is humiliating -
needn't be the situation. SpaceX's biggest obstacle: in excepting gov $$$s it
must except expensive red tape, paperwork and regs to impede its progress.
NASA knows how to work the system and deliver. We support private space
programs for we are true capitalists but don't want to support with our $$$s - unless,
we share in dividends!

                                      PLATO'S CAVE: THE SERIES:
MAN IN THE CAVE
by Richard DePersio w/ Citizen Journalist
                                        Between the idea
                                        And the reality
                                        Between the motion
                                        And the act
                                        Fallows the Shadow
                                                     -George Elliot
The ancient period is pre-500 A.D. During the period from about
        1500 B.C.-500 A.D. there were ethical/natural philosophers.
As regards the latter: They drew their conclusions from pure thought
and mathematics     especially, geometry. They considered
observation and experiment to be base - working with hands was
something  slaves did. Philosophers placed themselves at the top while
the king or whatever title the leader had and those high up in
government placed  themselves at the peak. Below them were soldiers
(even though  their work was largely physical in nature). Next came the
land owners  followed by the merchants. Artisans and masons were next
with architects and stone masons on top. Bringing up the rear were
      servants, peasants and slaves  respectively.
On the rare occasions that philosophers felt compelled and
deigned to observe  or experiment, they felt that they were debasing
themselves. There are always exceptions to the rule. The Ionians on the
islands of Ionia ( Greek island nation) where between 600-400 B.C.
      key, the ruler, the
carpenter's square, the level, the lathe, bronze casting were invented.
These natural philosophers were the sons of farmers, sailors and
weavers who were used to poking and fixing unlike the priests,
scribes and philosophers of other nations. They were used to getting
their hands dirty. While the ancients accomplishments were immense
further progress would have to wait until the late 16th century when
observation and experimentation begin the process of becoming
acceptable. Between 1700 and 1800, the term natural philosophy was
employed progressively less and less while science became more
in vogue. One can reasonably say that theoretical science is akin
to natural philosophy. The ancients would be pleased with it.
See Cosmos by Carl Sagan p, 153; Intelligent Man's Guide to
     Physics by Isaac Asimov p.8.
Ionian got their hands dirty but Plato didn't...
Plato imagined a man in a cave unaware of the man on his right and the
man on his left for he was transfixed on the shadows on the
wall. He perceived the images as reality. Unbeknownst to him there were
people and animals behind him and that some of the people had wagons and
some were carrying all kinds of objects. Beyond them was a fire creating the shadows
(imperfect perception of reality). One day, he is removed from the cave and sees reality.
He rushes back to tell the others who fail to believe him. The man in the cave once again
becomes the man in the cave. Plato perceived reality to be on a higher plane or outside of the
cave (metaphor)and available to a select few, such as, himself. God understood ultimate
reality and Plato could come the closest in apprehending it. Some philosophers believed in
one god (not God of the Bible) some many and some none (not wise to say to most people).
Emperors and Kings may or may not but it was practical to say that they were intimately
connected to the gods to control the ignorant masses.
Perfect concepts such as love and liberty and perfect forms such as the point,
the line, the square, the cube, the triangle existed in heaven. Humans whose soul was
inside a base body couldn't perfectly described concepts and when humans make,
say, a point, it is an imperfect representation for a real point has no length, width
or depth. The point that we make with a pencil does however small.
There was virtually no observation and experimentation during the "Dark and
Middle Ages" courtesy of the Catholic Church. The philosophers and teachers had
to get all answers from the Bible: good, especially, New Testament when it comes
to love, charity and forgiveness; not so much when it comes to the astronomy,
botany, zoology, geology, and meteorology. Intentions: keep evil thoughts
from minds, otherwise, destiny hell. Laudable? During 1200s, the works of Aristotle
and Ptolemy made their way to Western Europe and received stamp of
approval from church. "Why the Church should have been willing to accord such
high honors to the teacher of Alexander the Great, whereas they condemned
all other Greek philosophers on account of their heathenish doctrines, I really
do not know. But next to the Bible, Aristotle was recognized as the only
reliable teacher whose works could be safely placed in the hands of true
{{educated} Christians" The Story of Mankind by Hendrik Willem van Loon.
Also see Aristotle in Stars in Their Courses 9p.174)/ Intelligent Man's Guide to
Physics by Issac Asimov p.8.
While medical knowledge was to come from the Bible too, the works of the
Great Roman physician/surgeon  Galen survived by was watered down, digested,
and simplified between 500-1800 A.D. More info: The Fragile Species by
Lewis Thomas. He employed purging (bloodletting, inducing vomiting and
bowel movement) for a few conditions; by 1800, doctors were performing it
for most health problems.
Classical physics (which was the new  natural philosophy
created primarily by Copernicus, Brahe, Kepler, Galileo and
culminating with Newton - but that is debatable as we shall soon see.
The second phase of classical physics transpired in the 18th and
19th centuries with the biggest accomplishments concerning electricity,
magnetism and electromagnetism.
Newton thought of God as a Machinist and mathematician who
created the universe (the machine) and the mathematical laws that
operated it and that there was nothing wrong with understanding the
mind of God. His universe was reality and is our reality. We live in the
common sense world of Newton. Is it
possible that you are a man in a cave who perceives imperfect reality
- a shadowy world! Where is true reality to be found?
The strange case of Newton for while he was a Christian and no
doubt believed he understood the reality of the universe in which we lived,
he always believed that he was one of the few chosen to truly comprehend
the Bible. Many historians contend that his study of the Bible was more
important to him than natural philosophy. He studied the occult even though
he was a devout Christian and conducted experiments in alchemy. There
was a part of reality
that he couldn't explain: what was the nature of gravity and how could it act
and influence across empty space. Sound through air, waves through
water, energy moving from one end of the slinky to the other (no, he didn't
invent the slinky but did invent calculus and reflecting telescopes). He grew tired
 and annoyed at
the questions. Hypotheses non fingo (Latin for: I feign no hypotheses) he eventually
responded: "It is enough that gravity exists according to the laws I explained. I feign
no hypotheses. It abundantly serves to account for all the motions of celestial bodies."
He made it clear that he would not speculate or guess if the answer was physical or
metaphysical or occult or mechanical but was inappropriate for science which is
 concerned with how not why.
There is classical or mechanical physics and quantum physics or mechanics.
Some refer to the first and most important phase of classical mechanics as Newtonian
mechanics. Some consider relativistic physics or Einsteinian mechanics to be
classical mechanics at it's most accurate and developed. Others consider Einstein
to be a bridge between classical and quantum and still others think of it in terms of
being part of modern physics like quantum.
Most of the time, physicists and engineers use mechanical physics which is
more commonsensical and easier with which to work and used it to get human to
a celestial body and back. They employ relativistic physics (this science writer is in
category three: classical mechanics and modern mechanics: Einsteinian and quantum).
Do we live in reality or do we harbor a corrupt and imperfect, shadowy and
commonsensical view of  reality. Is true reality in the realm of the quantum world of
atoms, protons, neutrons, electrons, quarks, neutrinos , mesons,  strings, etc. and
where massless light from gamma rays to visible to radio and objects with mass,
such as, protons: both (light and matter) behave like particles sometimes and waves
other times and can be at more then one place at a time? Multi-dimensions and universes.
And, the equally non-commonsensical world of Einstein wherein gravity is really
the curvature of the space/time foam and the faster you go the heavier you get
and the faster you go  the slower clocks tick and there are mysterious black holes.
Will we arrive at ultimate reality when and if we combine quantum and relativity:
quantum relativity. And, dealing with Einstein's 'gravity' (curvature) which we
can't describe like the other three fundamental forces of nature: strong nuclear,
weak nuclear and electromagnetic (which includes light). We are on a quest for
a theory of everything: quantum relativity and proving that all forces were one force
until a split second after the Big Bang; we can show that three were. Once again,
Einstein won't cooperate! Or, we all men in a cave with true reality outside of the cave.
Why is the reality of the 'outsider' any better then that of the 'insider' (homebound) and
does the moon exists even though someone  hasn't seen it in years?

A Star is Born/A Tale of Two Nieces: R. DePersio is close to his nieces; although,
they live far away and he rarely sees them. Alexa (age 11; magnet school) and
Katie (age 15; magnet school) have registered a star (RA20h1m46.62s

Richard J. DePersio; added a note to the Music of the Spheres (you are welcome to
visit him on a planet near the star; bring plenty of beer or don't bother to visit!).

                                              by Richard DePersio

                                                      EPILOG

We are going to start at the end. Subsequent installments will reveal the thought
process employed, offer justifications for conclusions and supply details.

After years of searching, I have embraced Deism with a taste of Plato. I have
problems with the Bib...

We interrupt this article with a Special Bullitten: Citizen Journalist has apprehended
the heretofore nebulous Richard DePersio (alias, Rick; alias, Citizen Reporter;
alias, Rickcosmos). We think that we know him from various sources or do we?
Transparency: Do we know him any better than one of Obama's 44 stealth czars?
Who are they and what do they do in the shadows by day and in the dark at
night when most good Americans are sleeping? If we know R.D., we need to
know more. Citizen Journalist (you can call me C.R. but you don't have to call
me Rick) always had a policy regarding books, especially, those of the
non-fiction variety. He wouldn't purchase a non-fiction which didn't contain an
"About the Author" section for he wanted to know the level of professionalism
and the degree of credence to place in the words of the scribe.
After an expensive and extensive search in four continents (North America,
South America, Europe and Antarctica), including, searching in garbage cans,
we learned the shocking truth!
       He became interested in astronomy and space exploration at the age of six;
politics at ten; economics, foreign and defense policies at the ripe old age of
fourteen. American history - his roots - at eighteen. R.D. began to dabble in
various other sciences after nineteen. He didn't find the classroom conducive
to learning and likely enjoyed A.D.D. having been diagnosed with regular and
two variants as an adult. Only student to argue with nuns; didn't realize that that
was a no-no and that he was suppose to fear them. More pride of self-ed as
opposed to schooling. Strange kid (Not by design by via employing hindsight):
Started reading the newspaper at ten, everyday at thirteen; began attending
meetings at the local Republican club at fourteen - only kid there - - didn't
realize that he wasn't suppose to hobnob with the big shots.
Did that: Was involved with seven institutions of higher learning after
high school; motivated by the acquisition of paper. (Completed three years of
college) Earned an associate-of-arts degree in liberal arts with a concentration in
science journalism; certificates in computer applications, space and general
science, business management and medical assistance. R.D. completed an
internship in museum/science education.
The fun will begin momentarily....C.J. has opted to place Epilog prior to
Fun...Will resume article proper soon: same time, same channel...Is he a
grammatical though breaker?...Don't say a word: He packs a punch and has
big friends: on the couch are George, John, Tom and Jim, all about are Topper and
Harvey.
